Review: I'm a definite fan of Lamy Studio and Lamy fountain pens in general - If you have any experience with any Lamy fountain pens, you know what you are going to get. A great writer right out of the box. I love the Lamy Studio because it is a nice hefty weight in the hand. Weightier than the Al-Star, obviously heavier than the Lamy Safari. I'm much more of a medium nib fan but the EF nib on this fountain pen is perfectly acceptable. With the heft of the body it just flies across the paper. I love it. Another great feature about Lamy pens is that the nibs are interchangeable between the Studio, Al-Star, and the Safari. And since I have all three in different nib sizes and a couple broad nibs I bought seperately, whatever one of these Lamy's I have inked up at the time depending on my mood I'll switch out nibs for whatever I'm feeling that day and depending what ink I'm using. The Studio is a step up in price from the Safari and Al-Star but I definitely think its worth the price of admission...until you can save up for the Lamy 2000. Still, if you are completely happy with your Al-Star or Safari, those are great writing fountain pens so keep on writing.
Review: The studio - When I learn to write in elementary school we used fountain pens and once I got the hang of it I really enjoy it. when I learn to write in elementary school we used fountain pens and once I got the hang of it I really enjoy it The practicality of caring around a bottle of ink in order to refill the pen is obvious. I later discovered the fact that they are now making ink refills that you could just slide it in the pan and off you go. It’s been a few years since I was in elementary school and a lot of things have changed to the general Penn market but I still like using a fountain pen when I can. I think a lot of people got turned off because of the ink that you might get on your fingers when you filled it up but when A Fountain pen is tuned to its prime there’s nothing better to write with it just slides across the page. The Lamy pen Company is based in Germany and they make some very good pans. For those just entering into the fountain pen experience you might want to try a safari pen by Lamy. But if you take it up a notch and get this Lamy studio pen you will notice a very smooth writing non-scratchy even on notebook paper pen. The way this pen feels compared to Safari is quite a lot better. This studio can run you anywhere from 79 may be down to $59 but the writing is far more superior. So if you have the extra bucks on hand and want to try a really great writing pen get this Lamy studio fountain pen. Make sure you pick up an ink converter to go inside your pen so you can load it from a standard ink bottle or just buy some Lamy in cartridges .

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it come with a converter? People gave different answers, but is anyone 100% sure about this? Waiting for an awser to make a decision.....**
A: I bought the steel nib, silver Studio in 9/2017. It did not come with the converter, which was stated when I bought it. However, it also did not come with an ink cartridge, even though it was advertised as being included.

**Q: What's the exact type of point? 0.5mm? 0.7mm? 0.8mm? or 1.0mm?**
A: I believe mine is a fine nib, probably a 0.7mm, maybe even a 0.5mm. Since it's not specified and the seller is not Amazon, just click on their name and email them. What I received may not be what you receive. I do like the pen. I have received many compliments. I've used it daily for about 4 years.

**Q: Is the nib replacable? I like to use a left oblique nib.**
A: Yes! The nibs swap out easily. There are a ton of tutorials on YouTube regarding how to change a Lamy nib (Goulet has a great one), and I switched the original nib to a stub 1.1mm on my Studio upon receipt. It took 20 seconds!

Lamy's nibs are proprietary, so make sure you have a Lamy left oblique nib to place.

**Q: is this pen fully metal? if not, where is it not metal?**
A: The cap, barrel and nib are all metal.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great fountain pen
*by J***T on September 8, 2024*

I have enjoyed working with this particular fountain pen is very reasonably priced and high quality NZ fine chip I use works well. As an oil painter artist I write in my art journals, continuously making notes and tables and all kinds of data documentation and it's really an excellent tool. I utilize the ink cartridge that can be refilled over and over again. I also purchased from Amazon the high-quality Inc. that I use to write. They also make a throwaway small ink cartridge you can purchase however I have found although it's OK. I prefer to use the ink of my choice and is since I use and write a lot a little more economica refilling my own ink cartridge. I would recommend anyone that writes on fine paper and order light in my case art journals. It's an excellent pen for this application. I highly recommend. Many thanks, Jimmy Springett wildlife painter.
