Our loops cool quickly and the smooth rounded tip slides across media without cutting or tearing. Inoculating loops are used to transfer cells to a growth medium. Loops are used in scientific labs, or at home for creating yeast banks for home brewing or wine making. They are also used in the cultivation of mushrooms. In use an inoculation loop is first passed through a flame heating the loop red hot this insures the loop is completely sterile. The loop is then cooled allowing a sterile transfer to the growth media. 24 Gauge Nichrome wire = 0.02 inches or 0.5 mm in diameter. Chemical Composition of Nichrome A: 80% Nickel, 20% Chromium Approx.
