I DON'T UNDERSTAND POSITIVE REVIEWS; THESE ARE TOTALLY UNEVEN!

*by J***M on Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2014*

I spent hours and hours researching sprinklers before buying 6 of these; I thought I couldn't go wrong with all the positive reviews. After spending over a half-hour in my yard this morning fiddling with the placement and water pressure for these things my conclusion is this: THEY SUCK.I think the positive reviewers must have established lawns already so they can't see where the water is going(?). I just tilled and sowed cover crops so on the bare ground I could see exactly where the water hits. Let me tell you, IT IS NOT EVEN. It creates a super wet outer ring and then barely covers the inside of the ring. So while it may only take 10 minutes for the outer ring to get enough water, it would take at least double that time for the inner circle (to water 6" down, which is the minimum for promoting deep root growth and for water efficiency). Any supposed water savings from this sprinkler design is completely negated by the uneven coverage, which requires a longer sprinkling time in general. Also, there are two dry patches in the outer ring that correspond with where the stream hits the green disperser (the water hits it and gets blocked, it's not like it can curve around the green things). Also, in freshly tilled fluffy soil, the sprinklers vibrated so much that they lifted themselves out of the dirt and then tilted over.Maybe this will work for you if you have an established lawn and soak the hell out of it but definitely not for any seeding or in an area where you need even coverage.I now have to drive to the local big box store and hunt for a solution using oscillators before all my seed dies. ARGH!

    **RAIN BARREL USERS READ HERE**

*by C***O on Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2015*

I've tried a lot of sprinklers for use with a rain barrel and a sump pump I bought and these are the ONLY ones that even remotely worked. They work just fine with low PSI, high GPM which is what you'll get out of a inexpensive sump which you can just toss into the bottom of your rain barrel and not worry about priming or an expensive high pressure pump. As some other reviewers state, these won't have the best symmetrical coverage but this limitation can be helped by carefully overlapping the sprinkler patterns. Your millage will vary depending on the dimensions of your yard. These heads are a little delicate so be careful when tromping around the yard, one wrong step and you'll smash the top plastic hoop which holds the head down and you'll need to break out the epoxy/superglue.Helpful hints:-Get 3/4" diameter hose! This will help a lot with keeping what little PSI you have and therefore get better coverage from the sprinkler heads-I found I can use three sprinkler heads with 3/4" hose and a 1/3HP sump. With standard 5/8" hose the sprinklers were weak and I resorted to two heads on the 1/3HP sump.-These heads throw a lot of volume in less time than a high pressure city water sprinkler head since the orifice is larger, water for less time. Three heads and a 1/3HP sump will empty a 55 gallon barrel in 15 minutes so be prepared to install at least four or five barrels if you want more than a week of light watering.

Very happy with sprinklers, they work well

*by J***2 on Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2014*

We are very happy with these sprinklers. They seem to be constructed sturdily enough and work very well. Love the capped end so we can connect more than one together. They do NOT provide a "mist" as we thought, more like gentle raindrops, but they do cover a huge area each. We keep them turned low and have two connected about 6 ft apart (using a leader hose that's 6 ft) and they cover a 10 x 14 area with no trouble. Would probably cover quite a bit more if turned on high, but we haven't tested that as we don't need to. Seriously considering getting more to cover the whole yard. We also like that you can unscrew the stake part from the top and attach to a threaded pipe (or some such) to elevate up high. Will probably do this as our corn and other veggies get taller. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because no matter how low we turn the water we cannot get the "mist" as stated in the ad. I don't see any adjustments anywhere for that either. But it's ok, as the water doesn't "pound" out of the head, destroying the plants, it's seriously like a gentle rain.
