Whereas the earlier iDevice had analog audio available via the 30 pin interface, all Lightning equipped iDevices are a digital only interface via this connector. As such, to extract audio, there must be a conversion from digital to analog in order to connect to an analog audio system. The only way is to modify the stock stereo to include an aux port and hack into the XM or the cd player. Very risky unless you are a tech guy. What kind of of car do you have? I am thrilled with this device.It is built very solidly, and performs exactly as advertised. I'm running the outputs from the iStreamer into my Audison BitOne processor. There is zero noise on the connection. The most unsettling item is when I attempted to call customer support at HRT. I received a person who would not accept that there was a compatibility issue with their product and that there was anything wrong.
