Review: Finally, my favorite jaggery - I'm not Indian but I love to cook Indian food and I make chai from scratch every day. I've tried several brands of organic jaggery, and some non-organic, and based on reviews there always seems to be some doubt as to whether they're actually pure or not. Mostly I've used the powdered type, but now that I've found this one I'm very happy with it and I've re-ordered several times. It's delicious and seems to me to be the authentic texture of jaggery. It's really easy to break off pieces with the end of a butter knife. I wish the price were lower but I've been willing to pay it to know I'm getting the real deal with no added chemicals.

**Q: is there a recipe or a preperation I need to do to use the jaggery?  I just received it in a bag of little chunks, what is the most efficient way to u**
A: You can grate it and use it as replacement of white sugar. Difference is Jaggery is un refined sugar cane - has minerals, aids digestion and other benefit. May not be replacement for sugar for diabetic patients. For example: In Indian hindu temples, people offer coconut to god and eat coconut with Jagery or distribute same to others. Coconut meat has lot of health benefits but may not digest well, adding Jaggery aids digest it better and tastes good.

**Q: How long we can keep this jaggery? Since one of the review says it is like a paste will it get spoil quickly? How should we store them?**
A: The package side panel in the picture says to refrigerate after opening. I have seen different types of jaggery that seem to vary in how they are processed. The lighter ones seem more like brown sugar but the  darker ones are more moist and would need the refrigeration IMHOP

This is the best jaggery I have ever had. very sweet so little is more than enough. Satisfies sweet tooth without harmful stuff. Goes well with everything I use it in my teas, puddings, all traditional indian sweets as well as in baking cookies etc. Update April 2017 : As much as I love this jaggery, I hate its packaging. Seriously It is health hazard. Broken plastics pieces engrossed inside jaggery. It happened once last year and amazon returned my money and I forgot about it . but this time I had to share it . Outside cardboard box is safe no sign of damage but inside plastic box is damaged and since it is brittle plastic it breaks so easily and sticks to sticky jaggery. I love this jaggery and would love to buy it again when packaging gets safe.
