I use hot water to soak it, but failed. any suggestions?** A: While we have not tried carrots, we noticed a green color deep in the blades where they are attached to the white plastic frame after slicing zucchini. Upon closer inspection, we noticed that it was left over zucchini deep in the nooks & crannies. We used a toothpick to help dislodge it followed by scrubbing it with a toothbrush. That seemed to take care of most of it but it was a lot of effort to clean the thing. We think the countertop version with the crank handle works better & doesn’t build up as bad. Kind of the nature of the thing. **Q: Should you cook vegetables before using spiralizer?** A: Nope! You cook them after they are spiralized. **Q: Does this have easy to follow directions? Is it easy to use as I have bad arthritis in hands and wrist. I want simple. thx** A: Yes there are instructions and it's very easy to use. I used it while recovering from tendinitis in my wrist. This thing works very well and produces nice, beautiful, long veggie noodles with little effort. I can't believe how fast it was to go through 3 zucchinis and have enough noodles to feed three people with some to spare.A note on using the plug/holder thing to get the last bit of zucchini - I thought that would be more useful than it actually is. You have to not press too hard because if you do, you'll just chew up the end of your zucchini and then it'll be harder to push through the slicer. I wound up just going as far as I could with my fingers and stopping there.I live making a white-wine, garlic, lemon, and butter sauce with thyme to go with my zucchini noodles personally. It's very easy.The resulting noodles also cook very quickly.Having zucchini noodles makes it possible to eat Italian dishes that I gave up when I stopped eating gluten. It practically takes up no space in my small kitchen and quickly makes perfect zucchini and squash noodles. The two issues I initially had with it were difficulty cleaning it and the “gripper” piece doesn’t really work and you end up with a large chunk of vegetable that doesn’t spiral.I corrected these problems with the purchase of a small wire brush and a protective glove. The wire brush gets the Vegetti perfectly clean in no time and the protective glove lets me maintain a good grip on the vegetable so I can spiral it down to a very small nub, with no fear of cutting my fingers.The addition of these two items would increase the Vegetti review to 5/5!
