## Overview

Lavendula angustifolia Hidcote, commonly known as Old English Lavender, is a small, evergreen shrub renowned for its strong fragrance and hardiness. This quality plant thrives in various conditions, making it an ideal choice for gardeners seeking both beauty and resilience.

## Description

Introduced from the Mediterranean area in the 16th century, it has become a well established, well known and well loved plant with many different varieties and cultivars. A true cottage garden plant. Hiscott is one of the oldest varieties but still one of the best. A compact form producing abundant 60-80 cm tall spikes of intense violet blue flowers in summer. A good plant. Can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or can easily be grown in a pot or container. When growing in a pot or other container. Use a good quality john inns compost with 20% added horticultural grit to ensure good drainage. Lavenders hate sitting in water logged soil. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend osmoscote pro 5-6 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. John inns is a soils based compost. Often used to form low hedges. This plant has many culinary and medicinal uses, far too many to list here all plants grown in own nursery, it has become a well established, well known and well loved plant with many different varieties and cultivars.
