While removing this from my heater, I noticed that the end of the thermopile was sitting directly above the main burner and that amount of direct heat likely shortened its lifespan. The original thermopile lasted just over 12 years. If this unit lasts longer than 4 years (given the 1/3 cost), I’ll be satisfied. Hopefully it lasts another 10+ years! For such a low price, why not buy it and try it. They change out fairly easily from the bottom of the stove. Confirmed thermopile was bad by reading 485mv with pilot on. Completed job in 80 minutes. You can save time by unfastening the entire mount the thermopile is secured to and pull it up into access area so you can unscrew the thermopile from mount. Pull the thermopile wire up through the silicone to remove. Reverse for install.
