I followed the directions for first time use to the letter. In the 5 weeks the lanterns have been up, we sometimes have as few as 2 lighting up out of the 14 I ordered and put up. We have no street lights in our area, and the moon is not full on the nights the lanterns aren't lighting. I can't figure out what could be wrong. We do have one that has never worked, which I took down yesterday to examine. It's turned on, I checked the battery, I placed the lantern in the direct sun, and it's still not working. I did notice that after only 5 weeks there are already small tears in the fabric. We have had lanterns made by another company (no longer available) in our trees for the past 3 years and never had this problem. Putting these in our trees entails using a very tall ladder, and lots of hard work. I am not looking forward to removing them! ### ⭐⭐⭐ But they are cheap and still pretty. I have another type of solar lantern that ... *by D***D on July 17, 2015* Where I've hung them they get 4-5 hours of sunlight. But that is not enough to make them glow very brightly. And it's disappointing to realize that they don't come on until it's really dark outside - so in the summer that's as late as 10pm, and when we've already gone back indoors. And they only brighten for a couple of hours! But they are cheap and still pretty. I have another type of solar lantern that I paid 3 times as much for, and it's that much better - always bright even after several cloudy days, and comes on much sooner and stays bright all night long.
