I was shopping around for a camera for my teenage daughter who has really grown to love photography over the last year or two. She has taken a few photography electives in school and even joined the yearbook committee. She loves taking pictures and videos whether it be of her and her friends while they're hanging out or the tree in the backyard when it's in full bloom and the prettiest. Once she showed the amount of interest she has I knew she would really love and appreciate a camera of her own and one she could learn with.This camera in my opinion is perfect for beginners. I haven't had as much experience with it as she has, but from the few times Ive taken it I've been able to get some really great pictures. We both read the instructions as we were setting it up and got the overall feel for how it worked, and once you use it and play around enough you're really able to get the perfect shot. The lens is easy to put on and take off, and everything is in it's own felt drawstring bag to keep it safe and protected. Also included was 2 batteries which we've tested the charge while in use and it works perfectly. The foldout screen makes selfies so much easier and the need to retake is pretty much eliminated. There are different flash settings that can be used, including an auto flash and red eye.Overall this camera is absolutely worth every cent and more for the happiness it brings my daughter. She loves being able to send photos right from the camera and not having to wait to upload them to the computer first. This absolutely is the best gift for an aspiring photographer. I would like to have had a lens cover because there is always the chance of damage. A nicely padded soft case takes good care if it when you are not shooting; if you leave the battery in place when you put it in the case, it is a bit crowded but does hold the camera.
