To strike, position the flat end of the steel striker at a 45° angle at the bottom of the flint rod on the side of the container. Apply heavy pressure to the match and scrape upwards along the flint rod. There is an adjustment period at first strike so use it more to learn how to create a spark with each strike. Do not shake the container when striking. Keep the hand holding the container steady when striking to prevent fuel from spilling out.
