Review: Nutritious, Delicious, Cockatoo-Approved Food! - My cockatoo, Daisy, is 27 years old and on the cusp of her senior years. I initially ordered the Nutriberries for senior pet birds, because it reduced the amount of protein in her diet, thereby helping to prevent kidney disease, a common malady among pet birds. Due to her instinctively cautious behavior when she is introduced to new foods and toys, I was uncertain if she would accept the Nutriberries. However, she took to them immediately. I presume her positive response might be the result of the product's resemblance to nuts. She consumed them with enthusiasm, and they are one of her favorite foods. How do I know? Well, whenever she sees me place her ration of Nutriberries in her bowl, she literally drops whatever tasty morsel she is nibbling to quickly consume her Nutriberries. Although they are rather pricey, I believe they are more economical than other parrot foods that often get tossed to the bottom of the cage, as parrots tend to be very selective eaters. Daisy does not waste a morsel of her Nutriberries, and I have been a repeat customer for a few months now. I highly recommend this high-quality, nutritious diet for your large parrot.
Review: Back to the smaller bags for us. - I've been feeding my older small citron cockatoo this product in the small size bags. I have tried both the parrot and the cockatoo senior nutriberries. Love to see a citron on the cockatoo- macaw pkg. Not much difference, maybe parrot size is a little smaller? I decided to get the parrot 3 lb size bag. I have to admit, I went back to the smaller bags because the same issues everyone else had. Broken, crumbson bottom of bag, and clumped together. I also noticed moths like another reviewer mentioned. Im glad I went back to the smaller senior size bag. I felt I wasted my money on the 3 pound bag, because my bird will waste enough, but these clumps and crumbs were a waste more than half the bag. I went back to the smaller size bag that's also expensive, but isn't smashed and clumped as badly like the 3 pound size. I never noticed moths with the smaller size bags either. Maybe thats why my bird wasted so much of the food in the 3 lb bag. I noticed he wasted much more food from the big bag, and threw out the crumbs he didn't eat. I will continue to buy the small bags. Tired of Wasting money. I noticed the bigger bag isn't available now. I hope they saw the reviews and shouldn't put them in a bag to get smashed and clumps. I cant believe how much money spent and wasted. I will return if this happens in smaller bags. It's his favorite to grab and hold that nutri berry first when I give him other pellets too. I think he gained weight which looked good. But lost weight when had issues with the 3 pound bag. I'll see when the groomer weighs him. We have just started the new small bag. I didn't notice as many cranberries like before. Maybe quality control of fruits etc., or hit and miss. But also trying harrisons food 2 vets recommended. Another expensive food. Lots of varieties and a square shape pellet he rolls around hilariously and plays with it. Roudybush makes a senior pellet too. Not his fave, maybe pellet too small. Like having a 2 year old, i adopted in November. He was on a terrible diet. Only to find out hes 28, after they said hes about 18. I want to give him the longest life after his 3 previous living places. The vet said he was ok, after i found out hes 28, i brought him in to be sure hes healthy. The devastating news was she said dont count on him living to 40. I see female citrons that seem to be older. Having difficulty finding older males. I love him so much I hope the better food's will help him exceed 40. I think because he was on a seed diet at the last place where I got him & he looked terrible. Pro bird mentors said get him out of thstbplace. the vet said no seeds, give pellets. I heard someone say "peanuts" are in some of the nutriberries. Peanuts are not a nut the citron should NOT have. I will read the actual ingredients instead of reading about all the good ingredients on the front of pkg. I am guilty for not reading all ingredients and addives. I heard corn syrup is the binder, which isn't so great either. I am new at getting a senior bird. Thinking maybe saying he was 18 when they knew his previous owner and made a 10 year old error. I paid a lot for him. How many ppl would spend that on an older bird that doesn't have longevity like other species. He acts like a toddler, talks a lot more than other citrons, (I'm told his vocabulary is extraordinary). I hope the food keeps him healthy and . lives longer than the male expectancy. 🤞 Old guy still gets frisky with the back of my hand. Grateful to his previous owners who taught him an extensive vocabulary. He speaks in sentences. I fell in Love with him and AFTER he was in a bird shop over a year I called, he was still there. Not looking like he did when I first saw him there. Bird mentors told me to get him out of there asap. I love him so much, I hope these senior nutriberries will give him a long, healthy, happy life together . 🧡🕊 He's such a smart bird, I have been blessed. He will halp me put his food bowl in the food hatch so I can close the latch. He would pull it in with his beak. He knows move is feet until its secure. They think, are smarter, than many people. Lol. I now wish I would have showed desertcart the clump and crumbs when it arrived. I hate to complain, but since many others had same problem, I hope they have fixed it. I still think I will stick with the smaller size bag Hope no more moths. He didn't want to eat like normal for awhile. That's when I noticed weight loss.. maybe he knew the food had an issue. Observe the behavior and eating habits. Not worth expensive vet visit and tests. Thank you for bringing up the issues with the expensive 3 lb size. We should all get a better replacement. Even if small bags. I was thrilled to find a senior diet he loves.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stimulate the senses of your older parrot
*by A***A on December 10, 2018*

I have a 40-something severe macaw (the little guy) and a 39 yr old amazon. I have managed to keep them alive since 1984. Mostly, I credit the LEFEBER"S pellets and the Nutriberries. About 20 years ago I went to a straight Nutriberry diet. Imagine my surprise when I learned a few monthe ago that there was a senior version. I was concerned that my birds might not like the switch. But, as soon as I opened the bag and saw the big chunks of some red fruit (that smelled delightful) I knew there was hope. Well, let me say that they love the new food and I have already placed another order. A strange side effect a bird owner will appreciate: my birds actually eat all of these berries! There are no food bits in their water cups. I refer to this a "soup," and my birds don't make it anymore.
