I believe this has always been the case, but I didn't care initially as I just needed to move. I'm at 261avg and the bike is holding its own. HOWEVER...the resistance is just weak. It may be due to the weight I started out and just need more resistance. If it isn't on 8 the peddle just goes zoooom. Other than that is a great bike. For someone needing something during the winter or staying out of the heat in the summer its a 10/10. If you need more resistance I would shop around. Update:12/30/2023 I've put around 100 miles on it and dropped a significant amount of weight. I'm still over the bikes limit, but at least shoes fit in the shoe grips nicely now. All around great bike, lower cost performs well. I did indeed get ankle weights for a tougher ride. 8.5/10 a great buy. Get this if you're on a fat-loss journey. Putting it together is a work out, if you use the tools provided make sure you have 5ish hours. Resistance seems weak to me and I wish the panel was back lit not a huge deal.
