The fabric is soft like silk but is not flimsy like silk. It behaves more like cotton. The holes in the fabric allow good ventilation but are not mesh. The front has a double layer so they are not see-through. They provide good support, possibly a slight enhancement (not that any of us need that, of course) and they feel great. I'm a runner and they are perfectly suitable for running. My gf loves these and seems to enjoy the feel of them in her hands. My waist is 32; I ordered XL and they fit. I have also worn Tommy Johns at $32 per pair and I prefer these.
