Needed more data ports than the 6 on board (quickly use them up with SSD, raid HDD and optical disk etc).The LSI card is a recommended enthusiasts board for adding up to 8 more SATA ports and having the processing done off motherboard at good bandwidth.Happy to say, it worked like a dream. Inserted card, booted up and the disks were available for management within windows disk management tool.
