Review: good investment - I was looking for away to prolong the life of my paints, I currently use citadel paints and certain paints have a number of issues. Some friends of mine use glass beads but I was worried they lacked the weight to break up the paints specially when they started to clump together, didn't matter how much medium I added and shaking didn't work. So it was give these a go or spend several times more on a nail polisher shaker. I added three to the paint and a tad more medium with some energetic shaking the paint has smoothed out greatly. I've added them to a number of paints that tended to separate at a whim and these have made them need to less shaking time to mix back together. Also can confirm they don’t rust, when they first arrived I add a few to an old paint pot with just water for a few days and the water never discoloured. Currently using them in a shade of white and had no issues. I plan on moving my citadel paints to dropper bottles but for the price, I see these are a worth while investment.
Review: Recommended purchase for miniature painters. - I bought this item to add to my paint collection to aid in mixing the paint to ensure I get a consistent colour and consistency each time I use them. Their size is between the 5.2mm and 6.2mm mixing balls GSW sell (I compared the three) and I have found the AP balls to be large and dense enough to mix paints from the Citadel and Vallejo Model Colour ranges - both thick and viscous paint-lines. I have also used them with the Warcolours One-Coat line, which are not viscous, but do separate like crazy. I’m sure they would be perfect for any type of contrast paint as well. One ball per pot/bottle seemed to be sufficient for the majority of the paints in my collection; however, Corax White needed three; though it’s effectively a Gesso so that is not really surprising. These are not magnetic - I tested them. That means they have very little unbound ferrous content and therefore should be very resistant to corrosion. I thought they were good value for money and would recommend them to miniature painters.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do you recommend using these for cake decorations?**
A: Absolutely not. These are metal.

**Q: How many are included**
A: There are 100 paint mixing balls in the pack.

**Q: Are these re-usable? Are they easily cleaned, so they can be placed into a different paint pot, without messing up the colour of the new paint pot?**
A: Yes they are re-usable. If you are using them in acrylic paint they can be washed in soapy water, if they are used with a solvent based paint they can be cleaned with some of the same solvent used with the paint. As the mixing balls are stainless steel they will not be affected by the cleaning process.

**Q: should these be used for washes or effects paints?**
A: I use them in paints, washes, primers, varnishes and effects. Basically everything. It really helps ensure a good mix and helps evenly distribute pigments etc. I went with the army painter ones as they don’t react with the contents it’s mixing ( no rusting etc). I use a mixer and the bearing helps this further.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Load of balls- in a good way!!
*by B***3 on 15 May 2024*

These are doing the job for me. Add one or two to pot of Citadel paint and reap the benefits of a good mix! These are sold as stainless steel and I believe it. So, no rusting to ruin paints. Very good. They’re a bit expensive, but they work for me.
