It has a sound activated mode. The globe itself is plastic, which I think is a good thing so it won't easily break. I bought this anticipating to use it in classroom demonstrations of how it interacts with magnetic fields and external high voltage from Van De Graff and Tesla Coils. I was a bit surprised that there was zero interaction - I honestly expected something. That led me down an interesting rabbit hole as to why it doesn't work. They say, the best way to learn something is to try and teach it. This is in no way a product fault, this is just the way the science works. If you are looking for a Plasma Globe, this is a good one to choose.

**Q: I just purchased a different brand of plasma ball and it stoped work after 2 days does the one have this same issue?**
A: Hi. I haven't had any issues with this ball. It is also a glass ball. I bought one for my nephew for this past Christmas and I recently bought one for my desk at work and they work fine. This one has a "constant on" button as well as a button that allows it to react to sound only. I love it. I'm going to also use it as a crystal ball alongside my Zaldana Fortune Teller prop, for Halloween :-)

**Q: Can you touch it with multiple fingers and get multiple arcs, or just one strong arc?**
A: It will get multiple arcs.

**Q: What are the dimensions ?**
A: I just looked at the product description on Amazon.  It says 3" diameter.

**Q: Why did the price go from $50 to $80 right before black Friday?**
