It does run exactly to size so I recommend getting one size larger if you don't want it to fit really snug on your arms and to leave enough room when putting it on over other items of clothing. The satin binding is very nice. It will fold compact enough, it just might fit in a small evening bag to put on later. There are no buttons or snaps but that's okay.
