The case is baby blue and is made from a soft synthetic leather that is pleasant to touch. Would not recommend this sleeve as protection against drops/sharp impacts; however, if you are looking for a sleeve to protect the MacBook from small knocks/scratches when transporting it in a backpack or purse this is a solid option. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Other than that I love it. The only complaint I would have is that it is bothersome to slide the closure on the inside all of the time. I got it for my macbook 12 inch retina display. The rose color fits perfectly with my rose laptop. My husband bought some velcro and attached it to the outside of the sleeve and put some on the closure tab so I could just put the flap on the outside. I would suggest to the company to add a way for the flap to be closed on the outside. Other than that I love it. Even though many people said the magnetic closure on other laptop sleeves wouldn't affect the laptop, I did see a few people who said their laptop would shut off or go a little haywire when the case was nearby.I don't mind that you have to tuck the little flap in, because it works great as a mousepad when I lay my laptop on top of the sleeve. It works with my Logitech USB mouse perfectly fine -- I know another reviewer mentioned it didn't work with her Apple Magic Mouse.And also, no weird burnt plastic smell when I took it out of the package -- this is an issue I've had with other products before.
