I found this pan to be a exact fit as the original and allowed me to restore a thirteen year old coal grill that I have enjoyed using. **Q: can you use this to convert a gas grill to charcoal?** A: I don't see why it couldn't be used to cover the gas burner if you have a deep enough gas grill. Or if you were to take the gas burner completely out. But this will not stop the ash from overflowing the sides and getting underneath.
