Clay is sticky at first but after you work it in your hands as they instruct, it can be smoothed into the frame space leaving you with a well supported, 1/2" thick clay section to press childs hand into.Best to moisten child's hand before making imprint. If you don't get one you like, it is easy to peel up the clay, rework smooth. Give kid a cookie to distract and try again.
