I can see that the new stiffer design might be better for medium to large dogs, but it is too stiff for a small dog. My dog weighs 11-12 pounds. The xsm which fits perfectly in the fleece lined style, barely fits in the new style because it is so stiff. The small is gigantic. I’m so disappointed because I now can’t find another harness that has the strap to keep him contained in the car and also on a leash or tie out. ☹️ ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good Product *by K***W on Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2021* I have an older version of this item. I like the older version better. The newer version has less surface area on the actual strap part that goes on the belly of the dog. Using as it, it pulls our 7lb dog down to the seat, where she has no room to get comfortable. I ended up using a carabiner to give her extra support. With that addition, this item works for my needs. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Design changed and not for the better - straps too short... *by M***G on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2016* I own the previous version of this harness in the same "XS" size, but as another reviewer mentioned, the design has been changed, and not for the better in my opinion. The plastic buckle on the original which I purchased at a retail pet store 18 months ago broke, and so I thought I would simply replace it. Not so fast. This new design has much shorter straps, not as much adjustment room, and a MUCH smaller loop for the car seat belt to go through. I had to adjust it to the maximum size (which isn't much different than the minimum - only about 1.5" - and it's still just a bit tight on my 9-pound male Pomeranian. The original fit perfectly with a bit of room to spare.
