Rejuvenation has a very similar wall sconce for 3x the price, so I made the gamble and this time it paid off! The arms swivel and the head pivots so you can adjust the direction of the light and the angle of the lamp to your liking. The switch to turn it off and on are on the power chord (not on the sconce). Deducting one star because the directions were crap and very misleading! We are getting used to having the lights point down, after using a regular table lamp where the light gets diffused evenly throughout the room, but we are OK with the "moody" feel and happy to get a little more surface area on our small nightstands.
