I have had NO problem with knots coming untied or loose. **Q: What exactly is this type of material?** A: It's an elastic type strip that is cut from a 25' roll and is used to exercise with. **Q: Can these bands be used in the water?** A: Sure no problem. Don’t know if chlorinated water would shorten the life though. **Q: How long should these last? I have not had them long and my class uses them 1x/week, 4 people use the black & they are splitting & getting holes!** A: Should last for at least a year… usually 6 months to 2 years, depending on the frequency and intensity of use.
