I tested some of them after they were delivered & saw some crumbling. The next day, most additional colors I tested didn't crumble. By crumble, I mean, when you make pencil strokes on the paper, some small crumbs of the pencil come off onto the paper. I wonder if this is a temperature sensitivity issue. If they're wax-based, that would make sense. I don't know if more expensive brands crumble like that depending on temperature. I think maybe if the pencils are stored in a warm ambient temp long enough, it might eliminate the crumbling.Other than that, on the whole, I'm very delighted with my new set. I love the beauty of the colors and the range. The only strange one I've tested so far is Dark Red. It looks like graphite pencil colorwise. I was very surprised to see that. The barrel is painted a definite red color, not at all a graphite gray color like the pencil itself.The pencil's other physical qualities are good for the price. I like the wood of the barrel. Would have like to know what kind of wood it is. It shaves off well in my new Faber-Castell pencil sharpener. It holds up and I haven't had it spit or break in unwanted ways.The pencils are thin, not the thick ones like Faber Castell. Again not a biggie due to the price I paid, $27.97 for a set of 120 different colors. Too bad open stock isn't available so that you can get replacement colors one or more at a time.They go onto the paper nice and smoothly. They glide well with no catching against the grain of my Canson multimedia paper. The pigments aren't as strong as my Faber Castells but not bad at all. It's easy to get used to how lightly or hard you have to make your strokes to adjust between light, medium and intense pigmentation. It has an endless range acc. to how much pressure you put into your pencil strokes.I don't know how colorfast they are. They are not rated on the barrel like more expensive brands are. But I seriously question how the other brands who put those ratings out are able to test that the color will last for 100 yrs. Seems unlikely.I love that each pencil has not only a color number on the barrel but also a color name. Color name, not just a number, is very nice to see when you're drawing and reach for a color.I like the metal case that holds them. The plastic trays are a little flimsy but not a big deal.The company has been very nice corresponding with me, to say how to open the case (with picture up) when I first get them delivered. That will eliminate unhappy spills for a lot of people.They also sent me free coloring pages. How nice is that? Thank you, you're doing great. I will recommend these to my friends. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value and Quality *by K***M on Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2020* This pencil set is well-designed and well-presented. The 120 pencils are creamy and nicely pigmented, though not as soft as Prismacolor; however, that can be a good characteristic for the heavy-handed. You can get a very rich and saturated result, comparable to Prismas, using these pencils' excellent layering ability, provided your paper has sufficient tooth. I have made as many as 21 layers with these pencils without clumping or streaking,but on overly smooth paper, I have had streaking. These pencils color like a dream on Createspace/Amazon paper, the Hannah Karlzon and Maria Trolley books, Secret Garden, and Romantic Country first tale. However, they don't work well on Enchanted Forest (but neither do my Prismas or Polys). I've had good results on Canson mixed-media paper and sketchbook paper.While I'm drawing/coloring they "feel" more like my Polychromos. I love the slight "scritch scritch scritch" feel as they deposit pigment on the paper. The barrel is round and narrower than a Poly; they feel very similar to Lyra Polycolor in girth and weight. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and these pencils just feel good in my hands. I don't have to press hard, but yet I don't have to worry about smearing excess pigment all over the place as with Prismas.The set has its quirks and weaknesses, though they do not bother me sufficiently to reduce the score: color names are sometimes strange; they gave a strong chemical smell upon opening (it dissipates after a couple of days), and some of the colors are too similar. I can live with these quirks.Overall, this is a wonderful set of high student grade pencils and could serve many people as a fine daily driver. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Vibrant, Many Different Outstanding Colors, Great Price *by B***C on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2020* These Zenacolor pencils are vibrant with a beautiful selection of colors. I can’t believe the quality for the price, they are awesome!! My friends and myself do our coloring books together during the week at our apartment complex. We all have different sets of color pencils. I have tried some of the different sets, and did not like them. When I would color with other sets they would smear on the pages. Even Prisma Color pencils smeared my paper. I kept looking on Amazon and saw many nice reviews for Zenacolor. I ordered them, and loved how They Did Not Smear! When my friends saw the New Pencils, they wanted to try them. Well, needless to say,they also loved them. They color smooth, and don’t smear. That same day two of my friends each ordered a set, and are anxiously waiting for them.
