Review: At the end of the day: its kitten approved - Edit: raised my review from 3 to 5, heres why: 1) i learned they donate a toy to shelter cats for each review, and thats just friggin cool, man. In my book, its good business to give back like that. 2) while my kitten has for sure been able to bite holes in the cardboard, and even tare it in a couple spots, it has held up remarkably well in the few weeks we’ve had it. I don’t think its actually ad flimsy as i first thought it would be. And; id rather teeth holes in cardboard, than chipped teeth from chewing on plastic. 100% recommend. Mischief muffin approved. Cons: -some of the parts came pre-bent in places they’re not meant to bend, which made them go together funny. -its made of fancy cardboard. Id likely be able to make something similar from an exacto knife, and the TCG card storage boxes they sell for a couple bucks at game stores. -because its just cardboard, my kitten has already ripped it in a few spots. Not to the point where its ruined, but just enough for me to grumble about the quality for price. Pros: -its a clever design, and its cuter than what i would probably put together -theres a link to a little book about indoor cat enrichment, which im looking forward to gettin some ideas from -interestingly enough: it’s cardboard- because it’s cardboard, its light enough for my kitten to push around and get all his mischievous energy out without me worrying he’s gonna get hurt. No chance of splinters, or getting hurt on a corner or anything like that. MOST IMPORTANTLY-it kept my INCREDIBLY food motivated kitten busy for quite some time. He keeps walking away, then going right back to it. I only stuck like 6 treats in there, and he’s still working on it. This kid is less than a year old, but he has mastered the hardest treat puzzles we’ve been able to find for him in minutes after we set them down for the first time. Over all, I am glad we’ve got it. Its keeping the mischief muffin busy, im gonna end up feeding him fewer treats for the same amount of play time, and the hamster pattern is really cute. I also like the “don’t declaw!” Message on the bottom, with a link to sites with alternatives. I may be a touch disappointed in the quality of material, but id still be tempted to replace it once the cats shred it. My cat is happy, so im happy.
Review: Fun for the entire gang! - So I got this toy and the original at the same time. I figured it would take my kitties some time to get used to the original, so eventually I would put this one out. Apparently, they're smarter than I thought. (D'oh! lol) They figured out the original one quickly, so after a couple of days I put the Sliders together (assembly was relatively straight forward with the directions) and put this one out. It's definitely harder for them, but 6 of my 8 cats have no problem at all getting most of the treats out, and then taking more time to get the last ones. The toy itself is pretty sturdy. My kitties are determined - and destructive - and so far, this one is standing up to them. (For the record, so does the original. These suckers are well made!) I'm sure that at some point I'll need to replace it (cardboard doesn't last forever, and they have sharp claws!), but the price is low enough that their enjoyment of it makes it worth it. (I've had it about a month now. There is only superficial damage to it - including from my 2 20-pounders climbing on top of it. It didn't collapse!) In short: most of my cats LOVE this. Even my kitty who would prefer to cheat off the hard work of the other kitties (and steal the treats they retrieve) uses it. Clearly, not every cat will like every toy, and 2 of my cats don't care at all. But most of them love it, so for me in my house (with my treat-gobbling fur-beasts), this is a big WIN.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where do you put the treats in?**
A: Sprinkle the treats on top, and they kinds filter down through the levels. It usually gives you an even distribution.

**Q: Is this a good way to feed a cat that eats too fast?**
A: I personally would not recommend this for everyday feeding, it's moreso meant for supplemental enrichment. You can put treats or even pieces of dry food in here, but for every day feeding I would recommend a slow feeder bowl. This way your cat will still be forced to eat slowly and then you can periodically set this up on the side as a mental exercise. Eating too fast can be a health risk (especially if it induces vomiting) and comes from the cat's ability to self-regulate. This is a easily fixable issue with the slow feeder and not something you can necessarily "train out of them." Hope this helps! <3

**Q: Is this not just a cardboard box with holes in it?**
A: There are two levels inside and three more cardboard boxes inside with holes in them, two on the upper level and one on the lower level. You can "hide" the treats inside the interior boxes, and the cat has to find them and then figure out how to get them out. You could certainly make this puzzle box yourself if you're that kind of engineering and artistically inclined.

**Q: When I put dry food/treats inside non-washable feeders they get funky and gross. How does this hold up to the oily stains of dry food/treats?**
A: Well, it IS only cardboard. Outside, the boxes have a glossy finish, but inside they are plain, uncoated cardboard. Mine hasn't gotten stinky even after all this time, though. I mostly use chunks of freeze-dried tuna with it, but I do sometimes use crunchy treats (which are oily). My cat is such an expert at this by now that the treats don't stay in there very long; maybe that's why.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good toy, but needs better adhesive and more tape pieces
*by I***I on December 22, 2019*

Easy to assemble. The outer white box needs better adhesive because it doesn’t actually stick and then the box is held by the lid and the bottom. It’s not necessarily falling apart, but all the cardboard interlocking pieces aren’t meant to have so much strain on them. I added my own tape. I think the inside boxes should also have more supplied stickers. One cat likes it and figured it out quickly. The other cat fished out a treat and lost interest, probably because she felt like that treat was not worth the effort. Can you make this easily out of cardboard? Yes. But what you are paying for is cute artwork and not having to deal with cutting out little paw-sized holes. This keeps the kitty occupied and looks cute while not in use.
