Every time my toddler's diaper leaks, it soaks through to the foam mattress, so we remove the cover, wash it, and let the mattress topper air dry (since there is no way to wash it). After washing and drying according to manufacturer instructions, the cover is VERY difficult to put back on and the foam pad is bunched inside it and will not lay flat (until it has been laid on for a while again). If you want to totally loose your (already partly gone) mind while changing your baby's crib sheets, then get this mattress topper.
