Q: Can you run on it safely? Or mostly for waking?

In my opinion, you could jog at a slower pace on it holding on the the handle bars. However, I wouldn't run fast on it, especially not holding on. I read the reviews before I bought one. A lot of the reviews state it is a different kind of workout than you would get on one with a motor. You do have to "make it" move, so you do expend energy in a little different way on a manual treadmill. I mostly bought it because it had two advantages I liked. One, it is smaller and can be stored easily and two, there is no motor to go out. If you are like me and a lot of people, you use exercise equipment more frequently when you first buy it. At least this treadmill will store away, unlike those huge ones that people end up using for hanging clothes on.

Q: can this be stored under a bed or other piece of furniture

The top portion isn't easily removed, but the bottom could slide under a bed with the handles to the side. I don't think it would fit under most furniture at all though.

Q: Is the treadmill belt stiff and resistant? Or does it have an easy stride?

It's not as easy a stride as on a motorized treadmill, but it's also not too much work. It feels like walking uphill. You can also adjust the tension slightly with the allen screws in the end of the platform.

I returned it after a month of frustrations with the belt. It will not stay centered. The manual addresses how to re-center it. It's a cumbersome process to re-center and once you do, it doesn't last an hour. I don't remember the number of incline settings.
