It is a coarse fiber that tried to simulate a dreadlock. This isnt the wig for you if you want a soft texture. I found the size kinda tight; someone with a bigger head may have trouble getting it on. There is only an adjustable strap that I did not need because it is a snug fit. On me, the wig is asymmetrical (I love that style). I cut a few locks off to style more to my liking - this wig is full and I needed to thin some of the locks for a better look. When I washed the wig, I simply dipped and swirled it with some shampoo and a good rinse, It dried quickly and perfectly without disturbing the look.
