Get your day off to a great start. Our porridge oats and oatmeals are perfect for making porridge and for using in a wide variety of sweet and savoury recipes. Traditional Scottish Porridge Oats and Oatmeal. Our range includes Scottish Oatmeal, Scottish Porridge Oats, Scottish Porridge Oats & Bran and Pinhead Oatmeal in a re-sealable tin. All four varieties can be used to make a delicious porridge, each with a different distinctive taste and texture. As a general rule, the finer the porridge oats or oatmeal, the shorter the cooking time required. The cooking time is reduced further if you choose porridge oats over oatmeal, as the oats are lightly steamed during the milling process before they are rolled. Oat farming at Hamlyns involves working closely with Scottish farmers to grow high-quality oats, which are rigorously tested and monitored from seed to harvest. After harvesting, the oats are cleaned and stored before being processed. Review: Easy meal - This is my first time trying. The only other oats I've tried is American Quaker Oats but thought I'd give the Scottish ones a try. These are much pricier but also very good. The oats seem smaller but tender and have a nice flavor. Very yummy with brown sugar. This is nice to have in the house for times you're hungry but want something fast and easy and don't really want to bother cooking anything. I just pour the oats directly from the bag into a bowl and add a few slathers of butter, some brown sugar, and then pour boiling water from my kettle over all. The oats absorb it and it's ready to eat in just a few minutes. I also like that it's healthy. I'm happy with purchase and do plan to purchase again.

When it first arrived, I fixed it according to the directions on the bag. It was good, but it looked too much like the oatmeal my husband eats. I fix mine by putting the 1/2 cup portion in the bowl and pouring hot water over it, allowing it to sit a couple of minutes. Similar to instant oatmeal. I like my oatmeal "chewy." WOW...talk about delicious this way. I fix it up with honey and occasionally add vanilla extract. I also add nutmeg, allspice and sometimes cinnamon and chia seeds. I also use English walnuts and dried fruit mixture (raisins, cranberries and cherries). I now eat a bowl of oatmeal almost everyday of the week. I love the chewy texture of the way I fix this. Good flavor and texture. WONDERFUL!!

This is my first time trying. The only other oats I've tried is American Quaker Oats but thought I'd give the Scottish ones a try. These are much pricier but also very good. The oats seem smaller but tender and have a nice flavor. Very yummy with brown sugar.
