Adds 1mm of warmth while giving you the same range of motion. I use it under a 5/4 in mid February when the water is at 33 F / 1c, or under a 4/3 when it's getting colder out but don't want to switch to a 5/4 just yet. Works great as a rash-guard! I really like the thumb holes, the waist rides up minimally but does ride up- not so much an issue in a kayak, especially if I'm using the spray skirt.
