The originals both lasted over a year (one almost 3 years), which those of you who have kids know is pretty amazing. These have a thick cord, and don't fall apart like others we've owned. They are very comfortable for all-day use, aren't too heavy and they stay on. Sound isn't super high-end but it is 'good'; there's no static and they are enjoyable to listen thru. Noise cancellation might almost be 'too good' for kids' headphones - get used to waving your hands and jumping up and down to get your child's attention (I'm not sure I can credit that entirely on the headphones, though - I have to do that sometimes even when they aren't using headphones)! My 13-year-old got wireless 'airpod'-style ear buds last Christmas, but they ended up going back to these for the comfort and sound quality.
