The top row of loops you can weave in and out of over your rod will accommodate about 1.25 inch diameter rod. If it doesn't fit, you can slide the rod through the next row of loops which is much much wider. You can cut the strings at the bottom to a shorter length, or knot them more or even tie them back to add some interest instead of just hanging down straight.
