Acoustic foam simply reduces reverberation within a room. It does little, if anything, to prevent sound movement between rooms. If you need soundproofing I'd suggest adding insulation or getting a fabric-wrapped fiberglass panel. **Q: If I am wanting to decrease sounds being heard outside of the room... is it best to put these inside the room or outside?** A: The above answer is incorrect. These will not work for isolation of outside sounds, especially lower frequencies below 1000 hz, or if you're a band and trying to stop others from being disturbed from you practicing. This is mainly for acoustic treatment if you're looking to create better recordings and listening environments. It depends on what you are trying to do. **Q: Can I use this in a window to block noise coming from outside?** A: you could, but it will not block that much sound.If you want to reduce outside noise, replacing the window with double pained one or building an enclosure would be better. **Q: How do you stick to the wall ?** A: You can mount them on the wall in a number of ways. You can use adhesive spray, but if you want to change the location or remove them, it can mess up your wall. You can also use a large piece of cardboard, spray it your choice of color, stick several to that using heavy duty adhesive spray and then you tack the top two corners to the wall. Sorta like hanging a picture. Much less damage to the wall and easy to remove. Nice finished look. I also tried Command Adhesive strips. They will get their shape back. You need to open the package separate them all and then do not look again until about 36 hours for them to get all the way uncompressed. Once they have gained their shape they are nice. I got these for my son who already had some. The peaks measure anywhere from 1.75" to 1.5". I go back and forth between giving them 3 stars or 4. These are nicer than the ones he already has and is very happy with them but not as nice as the pics they show of them. When they arrived the were smushed absolutely flat. I followed their directions of giving the 24 hours to spring back to normal size and they didn't. A put them one at a time in the clothes drier on Low for 20 minutes and they came out all fluffed up and the correct dimensions! See photo for before and after.
