It's fast to read battery life is great, battery is the same watch batteries to change it, quality is great, sturdy but light. Turns on when u open the metal prod then instantly turn off when u close it. Magnet strength is good, not too strong. Can use this instantly out of the box. You don't need a wireless thermometer unless your using huge big cuts of meat within the oven or BBQ or smoker. This can't be used inside the oven.
