I ordered the blue/yellow size 1-3. My girls aged 7 & 9 wear shoe sizes 2 (very narrow) & 2.5 (average width) and these fit both girls wonderfully! They were also soft (the shoe part) and comfortable to wear according to both girls. My girls love the added speed they give in the water. They seemed, to me, to be surprisingly true to size, I expect by girls shoe size 4 we will need the next larger size fins. These did not fit my 5 y/o son (I had no expectation that they would) he wears a boys size 11, and the fins repeatedly fell off his feet in the water (so if you are thinking about buying them big so they last for more years, don't go too big!) They have a great feel and seem to be GREAT quality! My grand daughter has a very wide foot.** A: No, do not run wide. The are true to size - standard. However, they are made to stretch and flex. The rubber around the foot has to be tight, to stay on while swimming. They are generally more difficult to get on, but excellent at staying on. **Q: How do the sizes translate to actual shoe sizes?** A: These run small. I always buy a 39 or 40 in Euro sizes, but these -- 36 - 42 Euro -- are too small. Had to return them and get the next larger size. **Q: Why do these come covered in slimy stuff?** A: That will come off once you use it the first time or you can wash them off with some liquid detergent. It is a coating the fins come with to keep them from drying out and to keep their bright colors to look good for retail sales. It will not interfere with its wear.
