It works just as advertised. I'm a woman with average upper body strength and it is a breeze for me to lift my Jeep top off and lower it back in place. Alone! I was worried that lifting it would be heavy and that it would tend to fall too fast if I wasn't careful. Not true in the least. I don't think I could make it lower fast if I tried. It doesn't go down too slowly either. I like this hoist better than some of the other hoists because the top doesn't twist when hanging in the air. Just read the instructions carefully and all will be well. My husband and I installed this ourselves. Easy to install, directions were very helpful and complete.
