Review: Motorized shutter switches IR Filter in and out based on Camera LED or Python script - Works great, I included one daylight picture with IR filter in place, one night picture without IR filter - but has a bright light illuminating the left side of the picture- you can still see the IR LEDs affect on the right side of the picture. Then a night picture that was using a bright light to cover a larger area where a mouse was caught on camera!. For me, the IR LEDs light up to about 7 feet away and about 6 feet wide. I am using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running motionEyeOS. I also made sure to get a fast microSDHC card so the camera images/movies could be written fast enough. I got this: "SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC Memory Card Plus SD Adapter up to 100 MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30, A1-32GB SDSQXCG-032G" That 32GB has plenty of space for me, I also configured motion to upload the movies to Google Drive, and I configured the pictures so that they are being sent to my email whenever motion is detected outside of the "working hours" I set. What is motionEyeOS? "motionEyeOS is a Linux distribution that turns a single-board computer into a video surveillance system. The OS is based on BuildRoot and uses motion as a backend and motionEye for the frontend." No hardware changes or adjustments were required. You can use the Camera LED where "on" causes the IR Filter to be in place (day mode) and "off" causes the IR filter to be removed (night mode). Another option is to use the Python library or run the library as a standalone script (that is what I am doing). Right now I am using CRON to switch between day and night modes at set times, but I may change to a script to do it based on sunrise/sunset later. I got the Python script named CameraLED. From the documentation on Github: ============================== $ sudo ./CameraLED.py Usage: ./CameraLED.py (state|toggle|on|off) $ sudo ./CameraLED.py state State: 0 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py toggle State: 1 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py toggle State: 0 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py on State: 1 $ sudo ./CameraLED.py off State: 0 ==============================
Review: AWESOME! - This camera does actually need the heat sinks. The IR LEDs get extremely hot. I’ve tested this with a Zero W and a pi 3 B. It works very well. I was surprised at how high-quality the picture was. The lens also looks crystal clear and is low distortion. I don’t exactly know how to use the night vision, but I figure it’s pretty good.

### ⭐ Worked great ! ..... for about a day :(
*by A***N on March 9, 2025*

really decent quality for the size and FOV, was going to use it to monitor an isopod enclosure & stream on twitch but it gave up on me after a day. tried another PI, same issue which leads me to believe the camera itself died. Also did not include a cable for the pi zero, so a bit of a mess overall :( [0:31:09.238379483] [2798] WARN V4L2 v4l2_videodevice.cpp:2095 /dev/video0[15:cap]: Dequeue timer of 1000000.00us has expired!
