Brilliantly organized and written, he presents both sides of the argument regarding the validity of this piece of cloth and in doing so he totally destroys what is sometimes nothing more than the propaganda from those whose agenda is something other than pursuit of the truth. If you read this book, and I really hope you will, you soon discover that for a number of scientists involved in the original investigation by STURP, they proved the long held belief I have that scientists are not ALWYAS objective and they are as susceptible to deceit and deception as any other human being! Really, the search for the truth in itself makes for a great read!Then comes the thorough exploration of and explanation of the thousands of tests and examinations of the Shroud. In the interest in fairness, prior to reading this book,mo supposed I could be described as an agnostic on the issue of the divinity of Christ and the credibility of the books of the NT. reading this work, sealed the deal for me; I now have answers to my questions about Jesus and I now believe in his divinity.mi always thought of him as the greatest moral leader ever, but now, I understand that He truly came here to explain the nature of God. He leads the way in my opinion. Furthermore, my faith that he is nit sitting on a throne salivating at the opportunity to judge each one of us and sort the good from evil and with sweet vengeance condemning those who have not worshiped Him to the eternal fires ofHell. Instead he taught us how to live our lives that honor his life and sacrifice for us. Loving and caring for each other, shunning the material, several exhortations against the never ending quest by too many to accumulate more and more wealth and material things when every day thousands of children die of starvation and lack of basic medical care. And several times Jesus told us that if we want to know what he looks like, we need only look into the faces of the poor and sick and suffering.Now I confess that the book has not answered every question I have, but I now have the basics. Sort of that in the fullness of time and in my personal growth, I will have all questions answered.And while there are heroes and villains in the stories of the men and women who investigated the Shroud, there are a few on either side who stand out significantly, some are a tribute to scientific investigation; others violate the trust of objectivity in search of truth and their deceptions will surely be remembered in part because of this book. It will serve as a guide to all of us as to how to evaluate the credibility of some scientists.So, in short, for me, it was a great book and it is a book I will read again..it is that brilliant! I know there are some who will excoriate me and what I learned fro this reading, but, honestly, I do not care. While I am not religious, devoted to any one particular variation on the ways to unite with God, I do my best to follow Christ and often but ask if I am doing what He would want me to do. My life is different because of this book and am a very different man after reading this.And I would like to point out at that in the list of heroes who possess impeccable veracity is Bartie Schwortz. If you read the book you will understand that how his work as the official photographer makes a huge contribution to our understanding of the Shroud. He is one really,mreally smart guy! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Quantum Theory and the Shround of Turin..... *by K***T on Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2015* Interesting book, actually an apologetic for the authenticity of the shroud of Turin.Traces the known history of the shroud, the controversies around it, the tests that were done on it and the botched results of the carbon 14 testing, in which they took samples from the edges of the shroud, rather than various places, including the middle. The blood tests were also controversial because of the man who originally did them. A few scientists were out to debunk the shroud and a few to prove its authenticity, and the best of them were those who did not have an agenda.Also the author covers modern times -- the succession of popes, the violence of the middle east, end times prophecies, and quantum theories. Plus the possibilities for new tests, using advanced techniques.He also discusses what the meaning of the shroud has been for many, and may have for we in the early 21st century and beyond.I enjoyed the read, even on Kindle, so do recommend it to people interested in the meaning of the shroud and certainly those folks out there who may be "shroudies." ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great read for those with a scientific bent and an open mind *by W***I on Reviewed in the United States on May 15, 2015* I have almost finished this book, but I'm sure I will read it again. There is just SO much information to absorb!Despite a troubling number of editing faux pas, this is quite an enjoyable read and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is at all interested in the history of the scientific investigation of the Shroud of Turin. Thoroughly debunks the carbon dating "proof" that the shroud is a Medieval artifact, but there is so much more!
