Great buy
I was unsure about this woofer. But i can say that they are great. The bass is very good and sound quality is great. Worth the price. I used them in a 3 way set up and i used them only for bass. Do not listen to other review. They are great but you need to know your stuff.

Replacement woofer
I bought these to replace the 8" woofers in my Cerwin Vegas. The old woofers rubber ring has deteriorated and has started to rattle. These actually have better base than the original speakers. These aren't a brand name I am familiar with, but I took a chance and glad I did. These just plug right into the same opening and use the same connections without any changes to the cabinet. I would purchase these again if I needed more of them.

Best 8" Woofer I've Heard
I recently built three different sets of 3-way, hi-fi, 8 ohm loudspeakers utilizing triangular solid wood enclosures. (You can see the pilot set by googling "orange sunshine speaker" and watching the YouTube video). When building these speakers I wanted to experiment with drivers of different price points to see if the auditory results would be drastically different. All three sets utilize an 8" woofer, 5" midrange and a 1-2" tweeter. The speaker sets have a 3-way crossover with a 12 db octave slope and 1000Hz and 3600Hz crossover points. A .433 ft(3) solid wood triangular cabinet with a sealable tuned port would house all the components. The budget set was built with a pair of GRS 8PR-8 Polycone rubber surround woofers ($24), Goldwood GM-85/8 5" midranges ($20), and JAMO 20132 2" Paper Cone Tweeters ($4). While the mid and upper ranges performed admirably, the lower end was almost non-existent. The bass had to be attenuated + 8 db before it was even noticeable. Sealing the cabinet boosted the bass results slightly, but enough for the woofer to keep up with the midrange and tweeter. For this reason I would say that the GRS 8PR-8 is not suitable for any hi-fi application. The run-of-the-mill set was built with a pair of Dayton Audio DC200-8 woofers ($48), Pyle Pro PDMR5 midranges ($20) and 2" treated paper cone tweeters ($5). When comparing these drivers with the budget set I was completely blown away. The Dayton audio woofers provided a punchy, tight low end while the midrange and tweeter performed sweetly. Sealing the cabinet provided tighter bass, but slightly diminished the bass's lowest range. All-in-all I am completely happy with the ROTM set and would recommend these drivers to all who would like to build a nice set of speakers that perform well and are easy on the wallet. The only criticism of the ROTM set is that the extreme high end spectrum is not quite crisp. The reference series set was built with a pair of HIVI M8N-1 Aluminum/Magnesium woofers ($100), HIVI F5 5" bass/midranges ($80) and Dayton Audio DC28F-8 1-1/8" Silk Dome Tweeters ($50). After listening to these speakers for 3 days, I removed my BOSE 301 speakers from my studio and replaced them with this set. These 3 drivers work seamlessly together, covering all ends of the spectrum from low, fat, tight bass, natural and clear midrange to singing, soaring trebles. When put into the signal chain after my B&W passive sub, I have to say they may be the best sounding bookshelf speakers I have ever heard. While costing more than 3 times as much as the ROTM set, I believe they are worth it. After only a week they have blossomed and sound sweeter with each listen. All these drivers are available through Amazon, or may be ordered directly from Parts Express as well. In summary, the budget set is in no way hi-fi and will probably used for out door yard music. The ROTM set preforms well and could be used as surround speakers or general purpose hi-fi applications. The reference set is now in my home studio where they give me a stunningly true representation of the audio spectrum. Thanks for reading.
