I haven't tried them in the kitchen yet. My baby is only 10 months old, so time will tell if she can figure these out. She has messed with them some but isn't too interested in them yet. Based on other reviews that they can take the finish off your furniture, I will copy what one reviewer did by using a hair dryer (or heat gun) to heat the adhesive prior to removal.Edit: It's best if the latch part is installed at least 1/8 inch away from the drawer so that the drawer will not rub against it when you open the drawer, or the friction can cause the strap to break.Edit 7/24/16: The straps break at the notches with repeated use. The ones I have where one piece is around the corner from the other piece, the adhesive has failed with repeated use (maybe if I had allowed more slack in the strap they would have lasted longer). Disappointing. But there aren't many options out there for keeping drawers locked, so I will probably just have to keep buying these.
