No fat dripping into fire and causing flare-ups, yet you still get grill lines? How is that possible. Is it magic? No, it's a grill mat.Grilling will never be the same again. And yet, I'm so excited to use it.Honestly, cleaning this thing isn't super fun, but I use a scrub brush sponge to get the fat and char off of the surface, then stick it in the dish washer. I wont say it saves me time regarding cleaning (as opposed to cleaning just the grill surface), but when you consider the no flare ups, and the fact that the grill is always clean when I come back to it, I think it's worth it.This seems to be the best price point and highly reviewed grill mat. The mats work very well in the oven (as a nonstick tray liner) and on the grill. So far, I am annoying placing my meats on them for the "indirect"/induction part of grilling, and I place a pile of chopped onions between the meats so they pick up the smokiness of the charcoal and the juices from the meat. It's worked fantastically! Much better than I could have done with a veggie-basket.This product is also very easy to clean, even if some sauce burned on it.So far, I've used it about 6 times in the oven and twice on the grill, and I am very happy. I will definitely rebuy if I lose this or it gets ripped. That being said, I don't see this ripping easily - maybe if I'm careless with my spiky barbecue tongs or my kids mistake it for a cutting board. That fact is true. However, the other fact is that this product prevents the BBQ flavor from permeating the meat. In any grill, the flavor comes from the juices hitting the hot coals (in charcoal grills) or hot grids (in gas grills) and this doesn't allow any juices of whatever you are BBQing to do that. I personally like charcoal grills because it really has that BBQ flavor. That being said, charcoals grill are a pian in the A**. If you BBQ like we do year round, propane is the only way to go, albeit a small sacrifice in flavor. Buy this if you want to sacrifice flavor because of easy clean up...and, btw, it STILL spills out juices on the sides from whatever your grilling for you to clean.
