RE-PRESS: CD ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2019 .A timely re-press for this fabled festive compilation and Season’s Gratings from The Cramps’ Lux And Ivy.A 31-track collection of the strangest yuletide 45s ever; from dogs murdering the classics, to beatniks digging the snow plus a lament for an empty stocking, all as found in the Cramps’ record basement.Wild Christmas Tree wrecking rock ‘n’ roll, unstable people searching for a swinging yule, jailbirds, bluesmen and all-round lunatics tackle the festive season with gusto.Featuring doo wop ballads, Louis Armstrong, George Jones, Spike Jones and the Christmas list fandango’s of Joan Shaw and Gayla Peevey plus a smattering of offbeat novelty sides.Remastered from the original sound sources with sleevenotes by MOJO magazine’s Dave Henderson.

Review: Have a cool juke...dig. Worth ever penny.
Review: These are Christmas records allegedly from Lux Interor's record collection. Actually, a couple of them aren't Christmas records but vaguely have a "cold" theme. Personally, I have my doubt that all of these records were in Lux's collection. In particular, I am 99% sure that the version of "O Christmas Tree" here is from his collection. It is credited to Spike Jones and a 1951 release, but I had my doubts about the accuracy of that information. So, I did some research and found out that that song is actually by some people called "Spike & Jerry" and was actually released in 2008, two months before Lux died. So, if that song isn't from the Lux Interior collection, it's quite likely that song of the other records aren't either. Having said that, it's still a good compilation of Christmas music. It's a mix of different styles, but almost everything is from the 1950's, other than "O Christmas Tree" which is way out of place. There is rock & roll, R&B, beat poetry, novelty songs, blues, country, jazz and even a sermon. A lot of this stuff is hard to find, so it's worth getting if you are a collector of old Christmas music.
