This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. Review: Got It Installed. And it Works! - I enjoy mechanical/electrical projects and this seemed like a good challenge. Was a little worried I'd tear up the trim of my new RAV4 up getting to the wiring. The Etrailer YouTube for the 2023 was very informative. First attempt I gave up. Then I saw the U-Haul video for the RAV4. Re-inspired and with ramps I borrowed from a buddy to get under the car I tried again. Managed to remove the trim w/out damaging it. Connections were fairly easy. The double-sided tape for the module is very sticky but make sure you stick it in the right place (I had to pry up and re-stick because I was afraid it would be in the way of the reinstalled trim). If you don't want to use the self-tapping screw for the ground wire there was a hole for a No. 6 screw (w/metric threads) right where you need it (on 2023 the RAV4). And when you replace the plastic pan rivets under the car push the collars up on them first or they won't go in. Doh! The trim was easy to reinstall, and the tester said it worked. Took me all of a morning.
Review: Relatively easy install in a 2022 SE Prime - I installed this in my 2022 Rav4 Prime SE. The hardest part of the install is removing all the trim. This is necessary to run the wiring. The included instructions aren't the best, so I recommend finding a good YouTube video (there are quite a few out there). The install for a Prime is the same as any of the Hybrid models. The hybrid install is easier than the combustion installs because the battery is located in the rear hatch (direct power is necessary due to the need for a converter module, which is part of this wiring harness) - so no need to run wiring to the front of the car. Overall the install took me a couple of hours. Most of this harness is plug- and- play, though a splice is necessary for the wiring to battery connection. All necessary connectors are included. We did use some electrical tape and electrical tubing (not included) to protect the wiring, as well as a couple screws for mounting the converter module (they provided some useless double-sided tape for that).

**Q: Why does it need the power cable going to the engine compartment?  Don't  the tail light already have power on the harness?**
A: You need the power cord to your battery because the tail lights work off the ground instead of the power from your fail lights

**Q: does this trialer wieing kit is compitable with 2020 RAV4 hybrid xle?**
A: I have this kit installed on my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid Limited and it works great. I am not sure about 2020 but would assume that there is no difference. Keep in mind that for RAV4 Hybrid, the battery is not in the front under the hood but it is at the back on the right side. So you don't need to drill/poke a hold at the back to run the cable down to the bottom of the car and to the front but just run the cable across the trunk. That makes the installation so much easier. Also, if you have the hand free trunk opener, the tow hitch will interfere with it.

**Q: Does my 2020 toyota rav4 hybrid limited, have a wiring connector so i dont have to cut into the vehicle wiring !**
A: No, there is not a connector the RAV 4 has for a simple 'plug and play' connection like I have seen on other vehicles (meaning one connector only). However, you will NOT have to cut into your wiring. This harness comes ready as 'plug and play', it's not hard to install following the instructions. Curt also has an installation video on their website for this harness being installed into the new RAV4. One advantage the hybrid models have is that the 12v starting battery is behind a panel on the right side of the cargo area (see owner's manual), so you won't have to run the extension cable for power to the front of the vehicle like the instructions state, as they were written based on a non-hybrid model.

**Q: Will this work on a 2019 RAV4 adventure?**
A: It worked on my 2020 rav4 xle

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works in 2021 Rav4 Prime. Easier install with minor modification

I installed this kit in our 2021 Rav4 Prime and it seems to be good quality. If you have some extra crimp connectors or, better yet, if you are handy with a soldering iron and some heat-shrink tube, I suggest swapping the yellow (in the red, yellow, black group) and the single green wires as shown in the photo. This requires less panel removal and allows the module to be installed on the passenger side near the the battery and fuses to avoid running power to the drivers side. Then, the three wire connectors can go to the right (passenger) side tail light and the single green wire can run through the metal channel over to the left (drivers) side. As long as you have the soldering iron out, skip the crappy crimp connectors and solder the power lug and fuse block wire too for better reliability.
