Hollis Mason passes the mantle of Nite Owl on to Daniel Dreiberg, who is partnered with the vicious Rorschach and forms a crime fighting duo who become geared and respected in equal measure. Following a nuclear accident, Dr. Jon Peterman is irrevocably altered and known by his new name, Dr. Manhattan. These two Straczynski stories suffer from the "unnecessary prequel" curse, but when read in isolation have some good characterisation and excellent artwork.
