Can you confirm?** A: Hello and thank you for contacting us. The shade of this floor lamp is made of Mica, a sheet silicate (phyllosilicate) mineral, NOT plastic or glass. It looks like although we put Mica Shade as part of the description on top, we accidentally put glass on the bottom production information section. Prepare for a long clean up when opened. *by S***E on August 24, 2019* The packaging was horrible. Impossible to open due to cheap styrofoam. Had to invert the box to get it out. Styrofoam was all over our living room in little 1/8 balls. Clinged to all our belongings, our cats had it all over their bodies and faces. Took over one hour to clean up the packaging. Lamp was loaded with it as well. If you want to make your house a total mess and clean up the little styrofoam balls for an hour or so. That is what will happen. Regretted this purchase and was a present. Embarrassed to give it to receiver who was not happy with the disaster this purchase made. Lamp is also cheap plastic shade. Paid $230.00 for this lamp. It's very, very good plastic, and looks a lot like mica, but it's still plastic. It's not quite the same as real mica. (Note: the lampshade frame is made of metal.) Having said that, the lamp is well-made, the glow from the lights thru the shade is an attractive amber glow. The shade is open at the bottom, so it makes a good reading lamp for someone sitting in a chair next to it. The shade sits low enough so that if I am sitting on my sofa across from the lamp, I can't see the lightbulbs. Would be better if the light sockets were 3-way, but a handy guy could probably change those out without much trouble.All-in-all, I'm happy with it.
