Assembly is difficult but it is a big heavy complicated mechanical thing. I'm not sure how they could have made it easier. The color was beautiful, the fabric is heavy-duty, and the mechanicals are sturdy. However, because it is basically a big sail, you can't have it extended in winds over 6 mph. Initially my fasteners were inadequate and I had to replace my wood screws with sturdy (3/8")? bolts and nuts. There is a lot of leverage force where it attaches to the building. My one warning is put some UV protected on the material. It fades very quickly in the sun. The two pictures were taken with the same camera and you can see how much it has faded over 2 months time. Also, read the instructions carefully.
