It is very easy to wash. Just rinse out the mug, separate the filter parts and put them under running water. Then I air dry everything. Very happy with this purchase. **Q: What stops the brewing/prevents the coffee/coffee from getting bitter while it remains in the mug - assuming the filter isn't water proof to prevent?** A: I don't know exactly why it works,but I feel like the last sip tastes just the same as the first.
