I saw there was a recall in 2012. Why was it recalled?** A: Hi Jolene, I just checked the Diamond Naturals bag and it is made in Missouri. The 2012 voluntary recall was due to possible Salmonella. I switched to Diamond because my dogs were having a terrible reaction to Pedigree (I found metal bits in their kibble) and then switched to Blue Buffalo/Wilderness. After multiple vet visits and two weeks of a homemade rice and fish diet, I did a LOT of research and found that Diamond was a good choice for recovering canines. My vet also recommended Diamond and the price is not inflated. Since switching to Diamond 4 months ago, my dogs (Silky Terrier & Chihuahua) no longer have stomach distress, have regular bowel movements and are happy campers. They like the taste too.
