Last I checked this was actually rated as the most powerful electric/battery-powered blower on the market, and it has certainly impressed the heck out of me. I got the kit that included a 4.0ah / 18v battery, but I also have a few 3.0ah batteries from other Makita tools I own. I found, that at least for our purposes, the 3.0ah batteries are more than adequate. There is no difference in speed/output from using a larger battery, just run time. My ONE gripe with this is that there are two "attachment" pieces (extender and angled/focused tip/nozzle). They aren't required, but are nice to have. Regardless, last I checked they were selling individually for ~$20/piece. I find this to be a bit of a frustrating sales tactic to increase margins by squeezing another ~$40 for two small pieces of plastic to complete this "kit". That said, there are several off-brand options available for cheaper, and considering it's just two pieces of molded plastic this is the way I intend to go. in short, we absolutely LOVE this blower. This is not something that I'd use to clear my large yard of leaves, but is spectacular for small-medium jobs like blowing out gardens, cleaning up workspaces... we even use this to dry the cars after washing. It produces a maximum of 91 cfm (cubic feet per minute) of air volume and weighs 3.9 pounds. The XBU03z is the new brushless motor model with 5 times more power (459 cfm) and weighs 6.5 pounds. Both are sold without a battery. I have 6 other Makita tools and have plenty of batteries so glad they sell it that way. The XBU can do jobs much faster. Love mine. **Q: Can i use a 18v bl1830 with this blower. if not can the lxt battery noted for the blower by charged on the bl1830 charger?** A: I don't know about the BL 1830 battery, but it does NOT work with a BL 1815 battery. I bought this unit specifically because I was told by a Makita salesperson that all Makita 18V tools work with all Makita 18V batteries. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Returning this blower. **Q: Battery Life? How long will it work with 5amp battery on the Highesr level?** A: I’m using this blower and purchased the Makida 18v 5ah batteries. My total run time mostly at high speeds was exactly 12 minutes. Replaced the dead battery with a fresh Makida 18v 5ah and another test was conducted also at high speed. The second result was timed at a little over 14 minutes. I never came close to the advertisement time of 20 minutes at constant high speed. **Q: Does the 6.5 weight include the weight of the battery? If not, what does the battery weigh?** A: I suggest at least 4ah Makita brand battery. The 4ah weight 1.33 lbs. Love the blower. It is a great price and works well to blow off our entire driveway. It is lightweight and be used for all sorts of needs. It blows the pine needs out of gravel without moving most rocks. Depending on the size of your driveway/amount of stuff to move, one battery last about 10-15 minutes with constant use and no stopping. It can change based on different factors. I always have multiple batteries charged and ready to go.
